This is a rare factory barbless Sockdolager spring loaded fish hook called a Sockdolager or Yankee Doodle, patented in Brooklyn, NY by Job Johnson in 1847 in EX+ condition measuring 4.25 inches in length with 100% of the original japanned finish still present. This is a real beauty! I am selling this for my neighbor Bill Blauser, co-author of the book "Spring-Loaded Hooks, Traps, and Lures". This is in fact the exact hook pictured on the back cover of the book in the upper left hand corner, not one just like it, but the EXACT same barbless Sockdolager, making it not only a rare spring hook, but a unique one as well.
